The Local Patch (started in 2017) is a diversified market garden focused on growing the highest quality produce using sustainable, organic practices. Healthy, strong, productive plants come from management practices that place an emphasis on soil health. We feed the soil a balance of organic nutrients and compost and in turn, the the soil feeds the crops. With this approach we are not focused on spraying to treat symptoms, nor are we using chemicals to fight weeds. With minimal tillage, our aim is to preserve the soil tilth. We use long handed weeding tools, cover cropping and ground cover where applicable. 

We make our own organic potting mix for a strong start for our transplanted crops. 

We are contracted to grow for the MLK Center in Newport and work with many private chefs and caterers on the island.
